BIG TWO MEET IN CZECH RUGBY LEAGUE SHOWDOWN

The 2014 CZRLA Grand Final will be played on the first weekend of November between the championship winners, Lokomotiva Beroun and cup holders, Czech Rabbitohs.

Beroun, founded in 2008, have won the previous two Grand Finals and, after finishing top of the home and away regular season championship, will host the ultimate decider for the third successive year.

The Rabbitohs, though, have won all three of the meetings between the sides this season, including a 20-16 inaugural cup final triumph in Beroun, the only defeats Lokomotiva have suffered in their three year reign.

The cup was held for the first time and featured eight clubs, seven from the first division and the division two top side, Usti nad Labem Blades.

The play-off for 3rd place produced one of the best domestic games seen in the country, a second period of extra time 60 metre try from Orli Havlickuv Brod’s player-coach, Pavel Kubasta finally seeing off Slavia Hradec Kralove.
