Date: April 18, 2014

MICO UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CROWNED INTERCOLLEGIATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.

Mico University College defeated the University of the West Indies 42-18 to be crowned Intercollegiate Rugby League Champions and, in so doing, ended their 2013-2014 campaign unbeaten with 11 wins and 1 draw.

Played in front of a roaring crowd at the Duhaney Park Mini Stadium, the Miconians led from start to finish on the back of slick passing and running from their backline.

They built a healthy 22-14 lead at half time and although UWI enjoyed periods of sustained pressure early in the second half, it was Mico who kept the scoreboard ticking over while limiting their opponents to only four additional points.

Mico was led by Oshane Eddie with two tries and he was well supported by Toyin Cross, Kennardo Morgan, Damone Downer, Fabion Turner, Antonio Baker and Alec Harris with a try each.

Fullback Kennard Woolrey added 12 extra points from conversions.

For UWI, Shannon Harris, Rico Mathews and Marvin Groves each scored a try, while Kemoy Whyte kicked three goals.

GC Foster College claimed third place with a 54-16 win over the University of Technology.
